Wave 1 MRI Data
Data from the LASI-DAD Wave 1 MRI pilot study are available through the Image and Data Archive (IDA) online database hosted by the
Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI) at the University of Southern California.
Permission to access the LASI-DAD IDA site can be requested by contacting Sarah Gao (gaosarah@usc.edu) from the LASI-DAD study team. Access will be granted upon signing a Data Usage Agreement (DUA).
The following data is available within the IDA:
(#1 and #2 below are available as downloadable spreadsheets in the 'Download' -> 'Study Data' section of the LASI-DAD IDA site)
1. Freesurfer-based regional brain volumes and cortical thicknesses. Note that these measures are provided 'as is'. They were derived from T1-weighted scans by the neuroimaging team
but have not been thoroughly quality controlled (QC'ed) or harmonized by the team. This is in contrast to the Wave 2 Freesurfer measures, which have been carefully QC'ed and harmonized across sites using NeuroCombat.
2. Consensus Fazekas rating of White Matter Hyperintensity (WMH) severity based on FLAIR imaging. Raters were Leon Aksman and Kirsten Lynch from the neuroimaging team.
3. Raw DICOM data for all modalities. Images are searchable and downloadable from the 'Search' -> 'Advanced Image Search' section of the LASI-DAD IDA site. Make sure you select all modalities in the search options if you are looking for all the modalities.
Note that both scout and localizer images are included in the database.
Wave 2 MRI Data
Freesurfer-based imaging markers derived from Wave 2 T1-weighted MRI are publicly available as part of version B.2 of the Harmonized LASI-DAD dataset,
released in April 2026. These measures have been QC'ed and harmonized across scanning sites using NeuroCombat. Both site-adjusted and unadjusted versions of each measure are provided.
The following measures are currently available in this dataset: scanner site, scanner characteristics (manufacturer/model),
time between cognitive and MRI assessments, cortical gray matter volume, subcortical gray matter volume, total gray matter volume, estimate total intracranial volume, lateral ventricle volume.
Access to this set of Freesurfer-based markers is available via the Gateway to Global Aging Enclave website.
The neuroimaging team plans to release a larger set of both Freesurfer-derived measures and white matter hyperintensity measures via this outlet in the near future.
Freesurfer-derived measures, white matter hyperintensity measures and raw imaging data from Wave 2 can be requested via this form.
Your request will be reviewed by the neuroimaging team.
